In Bihar to support her dad for the upcoming elections,Sonakshi Sinha admits theres little shell do without his approval
She seems omnipresent these days. Last seen at a fashion show by SNDT and Shoppers Stop in Mumbai,Sonakshi Sinha is currently in Patna to lend support to her father,BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha,on his election campaign trails.
Its rather hot, complains the model as she goes on to talk about her visit. I lack interest in politics and so I keep my distance from it. But right now wemy mom, brother and Iare here to help dad out for the elections.
When Sinha first walked the ramp last year during Lakme Fashion Week, she managed to raise quite a few eyebrowsthe daughter of a party leader from the saffron brigade, the fashion circuit was rather surprised.
The 23-year-old admits that her father has been supportive but also clarifies that shed never do anything he wouldnt approve of. Dad has always given us the freedom to make our choices. He was supportive when I did my fashion designing course from SNDT college and later my decision to model. But our upbringing is such that I wont ever go against family traditions to wear very skimpy outfits that would embarrass my father, she adds.
The natural progression for Sinha,as is with all star kids,is an acting career in Bollywood though she insists its not what she ever meant to do. Her father has always kept them away from the world of films and politics as hes never brought work back home and they hardly ever crossed paths with the stars or their kids.
But soon after the recent edition of Lakme Fashion Week, where Sinha walked the runway for Pria Kataria Puri, the grapevine was abuzz with talk of Arbaaz Khan having signed her on opposite Salman Khan in a film under his production house. Though Arbaaz has been announcing the same to the world,Sinha insists that their talks are only in the nascent stages.
Im indeed excited about it but I havent even read the script yet and neither has dad wholl take the final call on my debut movie, she says, adding,But a few years ago when I met Salman,he told me I should lose some weight and focus on a career in acting. He promised me that when Im ready, hell sign me on. I think its his promise thats materialising now.
