Dabholkar murder probe: Cops trying to find assailants’ bike

Investigators have collected information of about 1,500 motorcycles with number 7756 to get clues about the persons who had shot dead Dr Narendra Dabholkar on the Omkareshwar bridge in Pune around 7.15 am on Tuesday.

Investigators have collected information of about 1,500 motorcycles with number 7756 to get clues about the persons who had shot dead Dr Narendra Dabholkar on the Omkareshwar bridge in Pune around 7.15 am on Tuesday.

Besides,the investigators have asked the police chiefs of all districts and cities in Maharashtra to check if there is any theft or missing report of a motorcycle with this number series. All city police commissioners and district SPs have been asked to pass on this information to the investigation team.

An eyewitness had told the police that assailants had come to the spot on a black motorcycle. Though the eyewitness could not remember the exact number of this motorcycle,he said the number was 7756.

The assailants had parked the vehicle near the Shaniwar Peth police chowki,a few feet away from the crime scene.

The video footages obtained from CCTV cameras installed in private establishments near the crime scene have captured blurred images of the assailants. The police are studying more CCTV footage on the route on which the assailants are believed to have fled.
