Speaking about her debut film Dabangg,Sonakshi Sinha says that the journey from being a fashion designer to an actress has been an interesting one
The trailers of the film, that portrayed the young 23-year-old actress,as an outspoken loose cannon, who is not afraid to speak her heart out against anyone, were an instant hit across the nation. And for debutant actress Sonakshi Sinha, daughter of actor Shatrughan Sinha, who plays the lead role in the film Dabangg, the transition from being a fashion designer,to a model walking the ramp,to finally becoming an actor has been a rather quick one. Oh I always wanted to model my own designs,to be honest, says the pretty lass. Dressed in black,Sinha who was in town for the promotion of her film confesses that she does miss her fashion designing days. I will definitely go back someday to designing outfits. As of now however that is on the back burner, she says excitedly.
Playing an unconventional debut role of a village girl who in her words,is silent and straight,Sinha feels that she did not think twice before committing to the role. In fact the film happened when Salman saw her dressed in a traditional attire at a common friends wedding. That was where he said that they had their lead heroine for Dabangg, she says, adding,I mean I just had to do it. When Salman (Khan) came with the film script I was plain excited. Of course I really had to push myself to the extremes to get into shape and look the character. Admitting that the weight loss and the excessive training were rigorous, she does say that it was fun nevertheless. Salman would ensure that I would work out and not shirk the gym routines as he himself is a fitness freak. Eventually that helped as I actually feel healthier now and more suited to be an actress.
She plays the role of Rajo, the girl who makes the main protagonist of the film,Khan aka Chulbul Pandey see the difference between the right and wrong. She is quite fearless too and stands up to Pandey in the film whenever he intends on doing something wrong, she says. Speaking about an incident that happened during a shoot in Dubai, she says,We were shooting a song sequence in the desert and the pallu of my saree got stuck in the ATV and I fell off and even got hurt on my hand. However we managed to complete the shoot eventually. To be honest,I was nervous but since the title of the film itself means fearless,I had to get on with the shoot.
Sinha cheekily says that she is not nervous about the film anymore. I was jittery when they showcased the promos for the first time, but after the reception it garnered I don’t feel scared. I am pretty sure that the film will do well. As far as her future plans are concerned she says,I am really not a planning person. As of now it is just Dabangg that is playing on my mind. After it releases and the reception it gathers,I’ll decide the future course of action. All I can say is that it will alter between my life as a fashion designer and an actor.
