The German Bakery blast trial will resume from April 12 with the cross-examination of six witnesses. Special public prosecutor Raja Thakare submitted names of seven witnesses to the defence lawyer,out of which the statement of one of the witnesses was admitted by the defence lawyer. There was nothing in the statement that would go against my client Mirza Himayat Inayat Baig, Rehman said.
Man,mother get 5-years RI for abetting suicide
PUNE: Vikas Kondiram Shedge (29),a digital engineer with a multinational company and his mother Venutai Kondiram Shedge (53) were sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment for abetting suicide of his 23-year-old wife Amruta,who worked as a teacher in Hadapsar. Vikass father Kondiram (64) was acquitted for lack of evidence.
Amruta and Vikas got married on May 15,2009. After she resigned in December due to pregnancy,she was forced to do domestic chores and was not taken to the doctor for check up. Additional public prosecutor AF Basit,who examined nine witnesses to prove the guilt of the accused said,If she could not do the chores,the family used harass her mentally and physically. Their ill-treatment towards her continued even after she delivered a baby girl. On December 10,2010,Amruta had called her father Narayan Jadhav,a high school teacher in Satara,to take her home as she was being mercilessly beaten. Next day,when her parents were on the way to Pune,they were informed by Amrutas husband that she had set herself on fire. Amruta succumbed to her injuries on December 17,2010. She had given a statement to the police that she was set afire by her husband and mother-in-law.

PUNE: Special judge Ravindra Pande sentenced Prakash Dattu Vidhate (48),assistant sub inspector,Lonavala police to two years rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 4,000 for accepting Rs 10,000 as bribe and for releasing ornaments seized in a criminal case in 2008.
Shivkumar Pilaji a resident of Beed was arrested in a fake currency notes case in crime register number 158/2008. During investigations,police had seized fake currency notes and ornaments from Pilaji. According to the prosecution,Vidhate had demanded bribe of Rs 15,000 for releasing the ornaments,but after negotiations he reduced the amount to Rs 10,000. The state anti-corruption bureau,Pune unit had caught Vidhate red-handed while accepting bribe from Pilaji at Shivaji chowk in Lonavla on December 11,2008.
