The Chatuhshrungi police have booked corporator Deepak Mankar for allegedly encroaching a land in Baner, which is in the possession of police.
Police sub inspector B A Kamble of Chatuhshrungi police station has lodged a complaint in this regard. Kamble said that Mankar had a dispute with one Ashok Gupta (60),a resident of Bhosale Nagar, over the ownership of a 4,000-sqft land in Baner.
“Both Gupta and Mankar had claimed the ownership of the land. The Chatuhshrungi police had referred the case to the Tehsildar under CrPC 145. The case is pending in the civil court. To avoid any law and order situation, the Haveli taluka officer passed an order that the land should remain in the possession of Chaturshringi police,” Kamble said.
“We found that sometime before June 2,Mankar had constructed a room on this land and installed a board saying that the he owns this land. A watchman was also deployed at the place. So we have booked Mankar and watchman Lakhan Bhat under section 447 and 427 of Indian Penal Code,” he added. Both Mankar and Gupta were not available for comment.
