‘Congress to take call

State Congress chief Manikrao Thakre on Tuesday said the Congress would take a call on replacing Deputy Mayor Deepak Mankar on the lines of the NCP’s decision to change Mayor Vaishali Bankar after discussing with party leaders

State Congress chief Manikrao Thakre on Tuesday said the Congress would take a call on replacing Deputy Mayor Deepak Mankar on the lines of the NCP’s decision to change Mayor Vaishali Bankar after discussing with party leaders.

“The NCP decision to change the mayor was sudden and the Congress will take a decision on the deputy mayor after discussing it with party leaders,” Thakre said after a party rally in the city.

He added that there had been no discussion so far on seat sharing arrangement with NCP for the Lok Sabha seats. “The decision on seat sharing is taken by senior party leaders and I am not aware of any such decision,” Thakre said, adding that the Congress had fulfilled its election promise to get the Food Security Bill in force and there was no reason for anyone else to take credit for it.

On the demand of reservation for the Maratha community,Thakre said the state government would take a decision based on society’s interest. “It will be better if reservation for Maratha is given without changing the existing structure of reservations for other communities,” Thakre added.
