This panel has been constituted mainly by merging two electoral wards –- Hadapsar Industrial Estate and Hadapsargaon currently represented by Anand Alkunte of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Dattoba Sasane of Congress, respectively.

In the coming civic elections,a tough battle is expected between NCP and Congress in this panel. Sasane is an old Congress leader from Hadapsar, but is an OBC candidate. Also,Alkunte is a backward class candidate. Both would be seeking tickets for the coming civic elections from this panel, but with reservations for Open category and OBC women, sources from political circles say that Congress and NCP fielding new candidates from open category cannot be ruled out.

It is also believed that with strong Congress and NCP candidates coming face to face in this panel, the division of votes between them may help the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance. Sources said that Maruti Tupe is seeking ticket from BJP in this panel. BJP-Shiv Sena too have a considerable vote bank in certain patches in this region.

It may be recalled that during the assembly elections,Mahadeo Babar of Shiv Sena–BJP alliance had emerged victorious by defeating Congress-NCP candidate Balasaheb Shivarkar from the region.

Meanwhile, OBC leaders from all parties would be seeking tickets for their wives.

Sasane said,“Congress has a strong vote bank here. If the party allows,I am prepared to contest elections from panel 42. Generally the party prefers to give ticket to sitting corporators.” Sources said Sasane may look for panel with OBC reservation,if he does not get ticket from here.

Meanwhile,Somanth Tupe, who is seeking ticket from MNS,said that people of Hadapsar, especially the youths want new leadership as all parties have failed to do proper development of the region.
