Taking a dig at Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray without naming him,Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Saturday said some leaders were spreading hatred against other regions and communities in the country which was damaging Maharashtras image.
Pawar was speaking at a campaign rally of sitting Congress MLA and partys candidate from Hadapsar Balasaheb Shivarkar.
Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industries Jyotiraditya Scindia was also present.
Pawar said,It is right to take pride in ones language. Therefore,it is right to enrich a language like Marathi and strive to take it to newer heights. However, loving ones language does not mean hating other languages and communities. Some leaders are unnecessarily spreading a bad word against other communities and insulting them. It is bad to sensitise people on the issue of language.
He added,There are around one lakh Marathi speaking people like me who live in Delhi. It is the same in Bengaluru. But because of the divisive politics, peoples attitude towards Marathi people has changed. These Marathi people are bearing the brunt of it.
Drawing attention to power sector,Pawar said,When I was the chief Minister of Maharashtra in 1995,the state was self sufficient in power generation and was even providing power to neighbouring states. However, after power shifted to saffron parties, the situation turned bad and the state is still suffering from the loadshedding menace.
