1602 Manmand-Pune was already running late,this affected other trains on the line
The 1602 Manmand-Pune train that reached Daund two hours late was further delayed on Tuesday when a group of angry commuters stopped the train. This led other trains to run behind schedule. Later,railway authorities booked the 24 passengers who travelled to Pune in the same train.
The 1602 Manmand-Pune train reached Daund railway station at 6.40 am instead of 4.50 am. The delay led the passengers to lose their patience and some of them even resorted to stone-pelting. As the train was delayed by two hours,some of the passengers protested and did not let the train move towards Pune. The protest went on for a couple of hours. Finally,the train reached Pune station at 11.25 am, spokesperson of the Pune division of Central Railway Suhas Lohokare said.
When the train reached Pune,24 passengers who were involved in delaying the train from Daund station were identified and arrested jointly by the Railway Police Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), he said.
The railway authorities presented the passengers before the railway magistrate at the Loni railway station as Daund falls under the Solapur division of Central Railway. They were booked under Sections 141,145 and 174 of the Indian Railway Act.
Due to the delay between Daund and Pune,many professionals,students and others like milkmen,vegetable vendors had to suffer as a number of trains reached Pune station late. The 1548 Daund-Pune shuttle arrived in Pune at 11 am instead of 8.50 am,the 7032 Hyderabad-Mumbai Express at 11 am instead of 9 am,the 2782 Nizamuddin-Mysore Express arrived at 12 pm instead of 9.20 am,the 1042 Chennai-Mumbai arrived at 12 pm instead of 9.30 am. Similarly,the 2158 Solapur-Pune Hutatma Express,2136 Nagpur-Pune Express,1014 Coimbatore-Kurla arrived reached two hours late.
