Amruta Khanvilkar says she is like the man of the house who needs to be served food as soon as she gets back from work
Amruta Khanvilkar,Marathi actress who has appeared in movies such as Saade Maade Teen feels that the first and foremost thing that one has to keep in mind is to know his or her body. The same kind of diet or food will not suit every person. I am a believer of controlled eating and I normally kick-start my day with a glass of fresh vegetable juice. Its high in minerals and is a great source of vitamins, she says.
Amruta is also a very chai person and loves the teekha adrak chai that her mother brews for her every morning. She is very regimental with her meals. Before going to the gym I have two boiled eggs and then have my protien shake afterwards. Lunch normally consists of the usual two rotis, sabji, dal and rice. I prefer diet rice since I tend to have a lot of it. I have another cup of chai in the evening. My dinner time is 8.30 pm ,which has dishes just like my lunch. I love the fact that my mom stays with me. I am like the man of the house who needs to be fed as soon as I get back from work, she laughs.
However,Amruta doesn’t follow any particular diet plan. I go on diet programmes only when there is a portfolio to shoot or any film in which I need to look lean. I firmly believe that diets should not be carried on all year round. She also feels fortunate that she can gain or lose weight easily and believes that if one is constantly on a diet, their nutritional needs are not fulfilled. Mostly, when I am on a diet,I eat something light every two hours and restrict my dinner to just soups and salad. Earlier,I had experienced back and shoulder pain and all this was due to the wrong kind of diet. I think home-cooked food made with ghee is essential for the normal functioning of the body.
There are lots of places in the city where Amruta likes to hang out and eat at. There is the famous Hotel Durga for coffee, that has been her college hangout. Then of course the chicken biryani at Blue Nile that, for her, remains a perenial favourite. There are also many places on Laxmi Road that serve tikhat missal pav that she loves. I have happy memories opf these places because I used to go there as a college student, she says.
