The merging of coastal cuisine and wine is an artful affair, and it proved to be so when the two merged at the wine and coastal dinner held at Kokum recently. The evening began with starters like the Kuli Paniyaram (A popular savory from Chettinaad) and Kori Jeeramiri (tender morsels of chicken tossed with cumin and black pepper) served with Chenin Blanc. The main course comprised of Anabe Pu Li Koddel (Button mushrooms in tangy tamarind gravy) and Pomfret Reichiado (Whole white pomfret grilled with spicy Goan masala) paired with Chenin Blanc. Some of the other interesting dishes that were a part of the fusion food festival included the Gutti Wonkaya which is spicy, stuffed eggplant from Telengana and the Gongura Mamsam which is also a spicy, invigorating lamb preparation, which were paired with Syrah and Chenin Blanc. Those present for the event included Ravi Jain and Neeraj Deorah, directors of Vallee de Vin,Amrita Thapar,Netanya Singh and actress Smita Gondkar.
