CME convocation held,54 students get degrees

In a glittering function at the Sarvatra Hall of the College of Military Engineering (CME),37 officers of Engineer Officers Degree Engineering Course including two foreign officers and 17 officers of Technical Entry Scheme were awarded B Tech degrees under the aegis of Jawaharlal Nehru University,New Delhi.

In a glittering function at the Sarvatra Hall of the College of Military Engineering (CME),37 officers of Engineer Officers Degree Engineering Course (EODE) including two foreign officers and 17 officers of Technical Entry Scheme (TES) were awarded B Tech degrees under the aegis of Jawaharlal Nehru University,New Delhi on Friday. Professor Pradipta Banerji,Director,IIT Roorkee was the chief guest. Twenty-nine officers of EODE Course graduated in Civil Engineering,eight officers in Electrical Engineering streams and 17 officers of TES graduated in Mechanical Engineering.

“ Lt Gen S S Sengupta,commandant,CME welcomed the chief guest,highlighting his achievements during his illustrious career. He also gave a brief on the historical background of CME. The chief guest in his valedictory address,emphasized that as engineers in uniform,the graduating officers would face a greater challenge in view of the rapid advancements in technology with which they must keep pace,” said a press release issued by the Ministry of Defence.

The prestigious gold medals for EODE course for standing first in their respective disciplines were awarded to Captain Sameer Madan in Civil Engineering and Captain Nirmal Kumar Jha in Electrical Engineering. The gold medal for TES course for standing first in Mechanical Engineering was awarded to Lt Pradeep Jhangra.

The function was attended by over 150 officers and ladies of the college and family members and relatives of the graduating officers.
