(Express file photo by Arul Horizon) As Pune is expected to see rain, thunder and lightning in the day, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the city and its nearby areas. The people have been advised to take ample precautions against lightning, thunder, and high-velocity winds.
The maximum temperature of the city on Friday is expected to be 36 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature would be 18 degree Celsius.
Due to the incursion of moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal clashing with a wind discontinuity over the land mass, Pune and its surrounding regions are expected to get rain, thunderstorms, and lightning. The same is the situation in other parts of the state especially, Marathwada and parts of Vidarbha.
However, the daytime temperature is expected to remain high which can cause discomfort. Many parts of the city and the district saw mercury touching 39 degree Celsius mark Thursday, which the IMD has said was common in the summer months.
