Rupa Bajaj (74),wife of Bajaj Autos chairman Rahul Bajaj,passed away late on Wednesday night at a hospital in Germany. She had been undergoing treatment there for the last few months. Rahul Bajaj married Rupa in 1961 and the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December 2011 at their Akurdi bungalow here. They have two sons,Rajiv and Sanjiv,and a daughter,Sunayna Kejriwal,who is married. According to sources,the mortal remains of Rupa Bajaj would be flown to Pune in a chartered flight on Friday and her last rites would be performed at Vaikunth Crematorium here the same evening.

RTE violation: Probe ordered against school

Pune Municipal Corporation’s Education Officer Shivaji Daundkar has ordered an inquiry into allegation against Mount Carmel School in Lulla Nagar that it violated the Right To Education Act,2005,by charging entrance fee,tuition fee and term fee from students admitted under the 25 per cent quota reserved for economically weaker sections. A complaint in this regard had been lodged by Nilesh Borate,general secretary,Congress Committee,and Arvind Gore,president,NCP Students’ Congress. School authorities could not be contacted for comments.
