Civic body drops water cut plan

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has withdrawn the scheduled water cut planned on Thursday. The water cut for emergency repair work at the pumping stations has been cancelled, it said in a press release. The civic administration had earlier planned repair work at the Parvati,Vadgaon,Pune Cantonment and Warje pumping stations.

Activists oppose corporators Kerala tour

Social activists have opposed the PMC plan to spend Rs 25 lakh on a study tour of women corporators to Kerala. It is inappropriate to spend money on the tour when there is a shortage of funds for development works. There is no harm in corporators going on tour if it is on their own expenses or that of their political parties, said a statement,jointly signed by Vivek Velankar,Vijay Kumbhar,Vihar Durve and a few others.
