Anti-ragging drive by DES Law College
To sensitise students about the ill effects of ragging and to spread awareness on the laws against it,DES Law College,in collaboration with Pune police crime branch,has decided to observe anti-ragging week from August 9 to 14. Teams of faculty members and students from the college will conduct awareness sessions for both senior and junior students at BJ Medical College,Agriculture College,Wadia College,Garware College,MIT and DY Patil Engineering College.

Three more swine flu deaths in district
The Health Department on Saturday registered three deaths caused by the H1N1 virus in rural areas of Pune. Thirty-year-old Pushpa Musale from Ambegaon was suffering from fever for over 10 days since July 25. She was admitted to Poona Hospital on August 2 and died on August 6. Thirty-eight-year-old Kamal Rakshe from Ambegaon was admitted to Sassoon General Hospital where she died on August 7. Twenty-seven-year-old Nagappa Jagdevi from Khed was suffering from swine flu since August 1 and was admitted to YCM Hospital at Pimpri where she died on August 7,said a release.

Symbiosis principal on Law Commission
Shashikala Gurpur,principal of Symbiosis Law School has been selected as a member of the 19th Union Law Commission. Being the only woman member,and one of the three academicians on the panel,Gurpur wants to address many gender-related issues. The group will be meeting in the second week of this month.
