Padal Vasti: Army withdraws appeal
Assistant Sessions Judge R H Mohammad on Tuesday allowed the Army to withdraw its appeal against a lower court’s stay order which restrained the Army from demolishing 302 out of 340 huts in Padal Vasti slum. This means that the stay continues and will now come up for hearing on July 25. The judge also directed the lower court to hear the case afresh.
Magistrate court records Tambes statement
A magistate court recorded the statement of Bhanudas Sahebrao Tambe’s,who was allegedly hit on his head by a traffic constable with a walkie-talkie, on Tuesday. Tambe also submitted a map of the location in Kasba Peth where the alleged incident took place. The defence lawyer has made an application demanding submission of Sawant’s uniform in court as it had Tambes blood on it. The hearing on this application will be on July 22.
