Director of Higher Education,University of Pune,has announced October 31 as the last date for all colleges to register in the Ministry of Human Resource and Development’s all India survey. The survey is to make a database of institutes and universities of higher education across the country. As per the survey,every university and its affiliated colleges and recognised institutes has to register and upload the information of 2010-11 on the portal http://www.aishe.gov.in. University of Pune,Director of Higher Education stated in their circular that grants won’t be given to those colleges that fail to upload their information by October 31. An UoP official said,“Almost 80 per cent colleges under the UoP have uploaded their information. The un-aided colleges have been prompt in doing so.” He further said,“The stoppage of grants will affect the aided colleges more than the un aided ones. The Director of Higher Education has yet not given out any written instruction as to the consequences of non registration in the web portal.”

Thermax Q2 net profit down 9%

Despite lack of momentum in the investment in infrastructure,especially the power sector,second quarter results of fiscal 2012-13 announced by Thermax showed that in the September 2012 quarter,the company posted a total operating income of Rs 1,192 crore,9 per cent lower than Rs 1,304 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. Net profit was Rs 91crore against Rs 102 crore in last year’s second quarter. The company’s total operating income for the first half of the year was at Rs 2,176 crore against Rs 2,348 crore for the previous year. Net profit for six months was Rs 158 crore against Rs 182 crore last year. On a consolidated basis,total operating income of the group for the half year was Rs 2,565 crore compared to Rs 2,733 crore last year. Net profit for 6 months was Rs 140 crore. As on September 30,2012,Thermax has an order backlog of Rs 4,412 crore against Rs 5,770 crore in September 2011. The group order backlog stands at Rs 4,984 crore.
