A minor fire erupted at a departmental store on Vishrantwadi Road in early hours of Monday reportedly due to short circuit. As the store was closed and unoccupied,no injuries were reported. Prashant Ranpise,chief fire officer of the Pune Municipal Corporation said,“We got the call at 6 am and the fire was brought under control within half an hour. There were very small ventilators and some of them were blocked,so there was excessive smoke inside the store. The reason is not yet clear. Fire officials said the electrical wiring in the store was completely damaged.

3 held for assault on cop
The Shivajinagar police have arrested three persons for allegedly manhandling a police constable who had tried to stop them from bursting crackers. As per the complaint registered by constable Shrikant Waghwale,three accused identified as Dayanand Irakal (42),Yallappa Dhotre (25) and Ravi Orase (30) were arrested. When Waghwale tried to stop them,they allegedly abused him and manhandled him.

Theft at Hadapsar firm
Around Rs 8.8 lakh was stolen from a locker of a private firm on Solapur Road in Hadapsar when the office was closed between Saturday even and Monday morning. As per the complaint by Mundam Parmeshwar,the owner,he had kept a bag containing Rs 8.8 lakh in a locked drawer. On Monday morning,when he opened the office the bag was missing from the drawer which was opened with a duplicate key.
