Known for their lilting rock tunes,Pune-based Chakra-The Band will be taking centre stage at Arc Asia,ABC Farms today,Friday July 27. Comprising of Salil Gupte on drums,Tejas Shinde as the vocalist,Yatin Gadgil on keyboards,Sheron Herbert on lead guitar and Abhijeet Thigale on bass guitar,the band will play from 8.30 pm onwards. Gupte,who is the spokesperson for the band says,We play a lot of Classic rock,Sufi rock and Bollywood rock. Along with that we will be playing covers of bands like Eagles,Led Zeppelin,Pink Floyd and Guns and Roses during the event.

Irreverent,incorrigible and hysterical is just how one may describe the duo that took centrestage at Hyatt Regency on Wednesday night turning the evening into an unforgettable laugh riot. While Neville Shah had the audience in splits with his brand of no-holds barred humour as he took on communities (What’s the difference between Parsis and Punjus? Parsis get the joke!),classes and life as we know it,the inimitable Shazia Mirza was undoubtedly the toast of the evening as she happily moved amongst the audience and seemed to,almost effortlessly,pick her lines from those present in the room. The favourite target,of the British-born woman with her lineage going back to Pakistan,though was her conservative upbringing (“My white friend asked me -why does your mother walk five steps behind your father. I told her that’s because he looks better from behind. But nowadays she is being made to walk five steps ahead,because of the land mines). Crisp,contained and catering to the cream of the city,the comedy night was one in a series that the hosts have been bringing to the city over the past few months.
