The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII ) has proposed a city connect model for the development of Pune city in areas of infrastructure,public utilities,public transportation,traffic management,garbage and waste disposal and rehabilitation of slum dwellers.
The idea of city connect model -put forth on the eve of 11th CII Pune Annual Day which focused on panel discussion on “Sustainable growth through building of infrastructure.”
V Ravichandar,chairman,Feedback consulting said that every city has common set of problems and and solutions as well and he called on the need for innvolvement of government agencies for building and beautification of city.
Manu Tandon ,former Chairman,CII-Pune zonal council and former MD,Beck India Ltd,said that there is a need to focus on traffic solutions in the city. He said that the volume of traffic has increased manifold and number of accidents is on rise which puts an emphasis on better road infrastructure. During the discussion on city model,people from different walks of life spoke on the necessity for a city development model envisgaing sustainable development.
Surendra Nath Deshmukh,senior traffic police inspector,stressed on self reliance and need for puting up more surveillance cameras. He said that the city traffic branch has created a profile on Facebook called Pune traffic police to get feedback from commuters on traffic violations and other grievances.
Pradeep Bhargava,Managing Director,Cummins Generator technologies India Pvt Ltd,said development model factors in the better co-ordination between government,industry,NGOs and citizens in making Pune an urban city.
