Rudnytsky feels that after having performed in front of so many audiences life has come a full circle for him
It is not unnatural for anyone to be impressed after listening to the long list of audiences that pianist Roman Rudnytsky has performed in front of. And yet when one sits down to a quiet conversation with the kindly Ukrainian gent, one knows that here is a musician whose knowledge on his subject is as deep, profound and clear as the oceans.
Starting out at the young age of seven Rudnytsky has now performed in over 95 countries across the world. I never really thought Id get this far,to be honest, he muses, adding,But the belief, the conviction, and the passion for continuously raising the bar for myself pushed me ahead and eventually took me to all those places across the world that I would dream of,of going to,during my boyhood days.
For Rudnytsky, the drive for going ahead might have propelled him to great heights, but he still cherishes playing in small towns and cities across the world. There is a wonderful charm associated with the innocence of the smaller towns and cities. The people there are really wonderful, honest and receptive, he says. He also adds that the best part of such concerts is the ability for him to interact with the simpler audiences who are not pretentious, and they are always glad to enjoy such performances.
Rudnytsky who will be performing in the city today at the Mazda Hall in Camp will be performing pieces from Bach,Rachmaninoff and Beethoven. Speaking about his upcoming performance he says,There are no set routines for me,as far as my performances are concerned. Nor are they improvised pieces. Its just that I prefer to take each and every audience and every city individually and that is what gives me a good idea and the required confidence to perform in front of the audiences.
He however feels that teaching music itself is a very important quality of a good musician. What good is knowledge if it is not imparted and spread to others for the benefit of all? he asks. He feels that the universal binder is music, and that it strikes a chord with almost anyone. Young children should be exposed to good music so that they can grow up to appreciate fine music, he adds.
Rudnytsky however is not alien to the country or to the city. This is my sixth trip to India, and my second performance in the city, he says. Even though I am coming to India after almost 19 years I do feel that the audience in the city are going to be just as I remember them from my previous performance. Honest and ever willing to accept a performer perform without judging the person, that is how I hope the audience in the city will be, he says with conviction.
