Social sciences teacher gets national level Adarsh Shikshak Award

Sudhanshu Gore,head of the social sciences department of S P College,was recently honoured with national level Adarsh Shikshak Award instituted by the Centre for Education and Social Development (CESD). He was conferred the award by Mayor Mohansingh Rajpal. Director of Iran Cultural House Mohammed Reza Mirzai was also present on the occasion. Mirzai was honoured with the best diplomat of the year award. Aftab Anwar Sheikh,president of CESD welcomed the guests.

D Y Patil Med College students participate in free-paper presentation

Seven post-graduate students from Dr D Y Patil Medical College,Pune,participated in the free-paper presentation in the Yuva Fogsi West Zone Conference 2010 in Mahabaleswar. Over 450 gynaecologists from west zone of India attended the conference. Dr Rachita Munjal,Dr Bushra Khan and Dr Priyanka Dhaiya won the first,second and third prize for the paper presentation respectively under the guidance of Dr Hemant Deshpande. Dr Deshpande,professor and HOD,Department of OBGY,Dr D Y Patil Medical College,also delivered a lecture on Management in Vesico Vaginal Fistula.

Hiraben Nanavati Inst of Mgmt organises inter-college function

Hiraben Nanavati Institute of Management and Research for Women organised intercollegiate event Kushagra- 2010. The MIT School of Management bagged the overall winner’s trophy. The theme of the event was Incredible India- History comes alive. More than 300 students from 32 city colleges and surrounding areas participated in the event.

Renuka Swaroop School librarian gets Adarsha Granthpal Award

Dilip Gaikwad,librarian of Renuka Swaroop School,recently received Adarsha Granthpal Award instituted by Samartha Pratishthan by Shivshahir Babasaheb Purandare. Educationist P L Gavade,MLA Girish Bapat,Sanjay Satpute were also present on the occasion.

Fergusson College student selected for Youth Exchange Programme

Aishwarya Kale,a Class XII student of Fergusson College,has been selected for NCC Youth Exchange Programme and has gone to Moscow. She will participate in a 20-day camp where she will be tested for her physical endurance and mental toughness. As many as 10 best NCC cadets from across the country are attending the programme. Aishwarya is the only one to represent Maharashtra. She was selected for the programme for being the best NCC cadet from Maharashtra for two years. Earlier,Aishwarya was selected for Republic Day parade through NCC twice.

Puneite is Craft Guild of Chefs’ national chef,2010

City’s Hrishikesh Desai was awarded the coveted title of national chef of 2010 organised by Craft Guild of Chefs in UK. Desai is the first Indian to clinch the top position by defeating nine other skilled and senior chefs. Hrishikesh bagged the first position at the very first try when he won the position of the youngest chef of UK (under 30) at Roux scholarship competition last year. He is an alumnus of Bharati Vidyapeeth. He passed diploma in hotel management with first class in 1999.

Bhave School vice-principal bags Adarsha Shikshak Award

Jayashtree Shinde,vice-principal of Bhave School,recently received Adarsha Shikshak Award instituted by Sanskar Pratishthan by secondary education officer of Zilla Parishad Vidya Shinde. Shinde has been working as a teacher for the last 25 years. She teaches Marathi to students of Class VIII,IX and 10. Mohan Gaikwad and Rajaram Chinchwade of Pratishthan were also present on the occasion.

Session on US undergraduate education to be held on Sunday

An informative session on “US undergraduate education: Facts and Myths” will be held by Swanand Foundation on Sunday,October 31,from 10 am to 12 noon at the Prashala Hall,510 Sadashiv Peth,Pune. Many students and their parents consider the option of studying in the US after Class XII,but very few of them are aware of related aspects.

Admissions open for MS (Engg) in France

Admissions for September 2011 are open for students who wish to pursue MS (Engineering) in France through the French national network of 75 premier engineering institutes called the “n+i” network. This is a single free online application for all 75 French engineering institutes for MS in all domains of science and technology. Students with BE or BTech can apply on http://www.nplusi.com. Entrance exams like GRE/TOEFL are not required. Admissions are based on academic merit,coherence of the SOP,motivation to study in France and quality of recommendation letters. Public and corporate scholarships are available based on merit. Information of scholarships is also available on the website. The deadline for the first session is November 10.
