BSNL to launch 3G services in June

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited will launch its 3G services in the second week of June.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will launch its 3G services in the second week of June. Principal general manager of Pune division of BSNL V K Mahendra announced this on Monday,on the occasion of World Telecom Day.

Mahendra said there would be no postponement this time.

His statement assumes significance in the backdrop of the BSNL making announcement of launching 3G services for the last six months. “In the first phase, the 3G will be available for around 50,000 BSNL customers in the city. However, the customers should have 3G enabled mobile phone handsets to avail the service,” he said. Mahendra said 3G would make available services like video conferencing and video calls. “One can call in the US and see the other person on mobile screen while talking to him/her. However, the other person should also have 3G enabled handset,” he said.

“Testing of the instrument is going on and we are sure that we can launch the service in June. The rates will be slightly higher but we are working out on it,” said Mahendra.
