Coming week, citizens have to brace themselves for a harsh weather as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted clear skies for the next few days and a slight increase in the maximum temperature that is likely to take the city’s mercury levels near the 40 degrees Celsius mark.

On Monday, Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 36 degree Celsius, while the minimum was around 15 degree Celsius. After March 14, the temperatures are all set to rise and the central weather forecasting department has predicted that the mercury may touch 38 degrees Celsius by March 16.

The IMD has also said that the minimum temperature is going to drop from the 15 degrees to 13 degrees, after March 16. This wide range in temperature could result in large diurnal divide and also increase the intensity of the heat in the city.

Slight incursion of moisture in the air from the Bay of Bengal will also add to the discomfort that citizens are likely to experience this week as the maximum temperature increases in Pune.

, Pune and Maharashtra would experience oppressive heat even as western disturbance (cold moisture carrying winds) would be active in the northern parts of the country. Parts of Vidharbha, are expected to receive some light to very light showers but Pune and its surrounding regions would not see any such rains, said the IMD.
