Boy drowns in pond

A 12-year-old boy drowned in a pond near Pavana river in Kalewadi around 1 pm on Sunday. Chinchwad police said the deceased,Pradeep Eknath Salvi,was a resident of Boudhanagar in Pimpri.

The police said Salvi had gone to the pond with two of his friends for a swim.The three got into the water,but after some time Pradeep disappeared. Police said his friends raised an alarm. His body was later fished out and he was declared dead when he was taken to the hospital.
