Bishop’s win match,lose qualification bid

Narrow 1-0 victory over Vidya Pratishtan eliminates side from competition

Preetish Mohrin scored the lone goal of the match that steered The Bishop’s School,Undri,to a solitary goal win against Vidya Pratishthan,Magarpatta,in the last league match.

However,the team did not qualify for the semifinals in the Under-14 category of the eighth edition of The Bishop’s Invitational Football Tournament.

The Bishop’s Undri needed a big win,while Vidya Pratishthan sneaked through despite losing their final league match. Mohrin’s strike came in the 26th minute of the match that was played under incessant rain.

In the other match in the same age group,The Bishop’s School,Camp defeated Bishop’s Kalyaninagar,2-1 with Shreetej Ladkat (fifth) and Suhas Narain (33rd) scoring for the winners. Ishaan Dev (fourth minute) had given Bishop’s Kalyaninagar an early lead but they failed to sustain the tempo through the match.

With the rain lashing the city,the organizers had to postpone the semifinal matches that were scheduled on July 24.
