I came to Pune from Kolkata to study Mass Communication at the Pune University. I am currently working at Bavdhan, and in the few years that I’ve been here,I’ve felt quite safe. But I do like to move out of Bavdhan by 7 pm. Post 10 pm,I prefer being at home and usually avoid venturing out anywhere. It all depends on the area where you spend time.

Pune is no longer as safe as it used to be. Personally for me,security is not an issue as I travel in the night by the company cab, which is very reliable. I wouldn’t go to parties unless I am accompanied by friends and have a known person drop me back. I can’t trust the rickshaws during late hours.

I live in Model Colony and it’s usually safe around here. But after 8.30 pm,I prefer to be home. I don’t mind staying out till 10 pm and chilling out with friends at a coffee shop nearby, but after 10,the crowd gets really odd. The guys on bikes pass comments and sometimes they even try to touch us girls. I have also seen some people carry beer bottles and drink till late,so it’s better to avoid being around them. It’s safer to stay indoors.

Eve-teasing is a problem in every city,so the girls have to be very cautious. I have been in Pune for the past four years, and agree that it hasn’t remained as safe as before. I stay on MG road, which is always bustling with activity, but I still don’t venture out beyond 9.30 pm unless I have a friend with me.

I came to Pune from Nasik to study. I haven’t faced any particular incident but I don’t feel entirely safe in my area, even during the day. Guys stare at you when you’re walking on the road.

I’ve been living in Pune for two and a half years now. I have never felt unsafe as I usually hang out at Karve Road and Fergusson College Road. These areas are crowded and I haven’t faced any untoward incident. But if I were to live or work in the outskirts,I would definitely feel unsafe.
