Bendre,Raymond,Samitha in line for double crown

Seventh seed Ambika Pandey of Delhi stopped the winning run of unseeded Dhruti Venugopal,while top seed Anvit Bendre managed to escape defeat to make it to the finals in the boys event at the Bilcare Research – ATF Trophy Under 14 Series Tennis Tournament 2009 organised by Econ Ace Tennis Academy and played at the Mhalunge Balewadi Tennis Complex here.

In the finals of the event,sponsored by Bilcare Research and co-sponsored by Punjab National Bank,Bendre will clash with second seed Jude Raymond in the boys event ,while top seed C. Sai Samitha will take on Pandey in the girls finals.

In the semifinals played today,local boy and top seed Bendre scraped past giant killer Aayush Mintri 3-6,7-6(7-3),7-6(7-4) in a three hour thriller to make it to the finals,while in the other semifinals,second seed T.S Jude Raymond accounted for A K Pardhasardhy 7-5,7-5 to set up the summit clash.

In the girls semifinals,Pandey made it to her first ever ATF finals stopping the winning run of Venugopal 6-0-6-1. Pandey will take Samhitha,who outplayed fourth seed Jasmine Kaur Bajaj 6-3,6-2.

Bendre,Raymond and Samhitha also put their self line for double crown as they reached doubles finals also.

The finals will be played tomorrow from 8 am,followed by the prize distribution at 11.30 am.
