Almost 80 per cent of the shops in Baramati shut down for a few hours in protest against the Pawar’s resignation.

The traditional NCP stronghold saw traders keeping shops shut in the early morning hours. President of Baramati Nagar Parishad Jayanti Satav said all the workers are with “dada”.

“We are standing by him and supporting all his decisions,’’ said Satav. Although she said they had not called for a bandh,the traders decided to keep shops shut for sometime in the morning.

While NCP leaders from Baramati conducted protest marches in different areas,NCP youth leaders in Pune district held a daylong fast in front of the collector’s office.
