The bagel dough is usually poached in boiling water before baking,which gives it the characteristic dense,chewy texture. The vegetarian bagel is served with lettuce,tomatoes,mushrooms and cheese where as you have a choice of eggs and ham with other toppings in the non vegetarian variant. “Eggs Florentine and Eggs Benedict are the favourite bagels here.” says Niranta Nazinare,Tertulia. The bagels are prepared fresh on order and are light on the wallet as well.( Rs125 for veg and Rs145 for non-veg)

Herbs are known to lend not only their fantastic flavour,but a sensual aroma to anything to which they are added. Sugardough Bakery’s herbed bagel is a hit with the customers. “We add a mix of dry herbs to the bagel dough,” says Pravin Rao,owner of Sugardough Bakery,“It includes several herbs such as oregano,basil,rosemary,among others.” The earthy flavours of the herbs complement the bread beautifully to make one pretty good bagel. Raisin bagel

“We make bagels only on order,out of which raisin bagels are the most popular among the customers,” says Yaseer Shaikh at the Coffee Jar. The dry fruit,which is added to the dough before the bagels are shaped,poached and baked,adds an element of sweetness to the bread. This scrumptious bagel makes for a great tea-time snack.
