Bachchan to launch 10th film festival on Thursday

In the previous years,the same honour has been conferred upon various luminaries like Dilip Kumar,Lata Mangeshkar,Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman. Also,two years ago PIFF introduced the “S D Burman International Award for Creative Music and Sound”. Music directors Pyarelal and Khayyam Saab were the recipients earlier and this year Padmabhushan Ilaiyaaraja will be joining the list. Besides this,PIFF will be felicitating Marathi actor Sachin Pilgaonkar for completing 50 years in the film industry.

The festival will kick off with the cultural programme followed by the screening of inaugural film Top Floor Left Wing,directed by Angelo Cianci from France. PIFF will screen more than 240 films and documentaries at City Pride Kothrud,R-Deccan,City Pride Abhiruchi,E-square,Inox and National Film Archives of India (NFAI). The Marathi films competition screenings will take place at City Pride,kothrud,Student films competition at E-square,country focus (Germany) at Archive theatre and world competition and rest of the films will be screened at R-Deccan,Inox and City Pride Abhiruchi.
