While the fare amount of Rs 10 for the first kilometre will remain the same, charge for every subsequent kilometre has been hiked to Rs 8 from Rs 7 per kilometre.

The transport department of the state government had convened a state-level meeting of autorickshaw unions to take a decision on the fare hike. For Pune, transport commissioner Dilip Jadhav agreed to hike the fare by Re 1 from Friday. However,he has directed the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) to take a decision about further hike.

“While there is no hike in the first kilometre charge, the transport commissioner agreed to allow Re 1 hike for subsequent kilometres. It will come into force from Thursday midnight. He also directed the RTA to take decision on further hike. The issue will be discussed at the next RTA meet, which has to be held before Thursday,” RTA member Baba Shinde said.
