Auto driver hacked to death on highway

An autorickshaw driver was brutally murdered allegedly by his step-brother in a crowded area on the Pune-Mumbai highway at Kasarwadi on Saturday.

An autorickshaw driver was brutally murdered allegedly by his step-brother in a crowded area on the Pune-Mumbai highway at Kasarwadi on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Vipul Anil Tijore (30),a resident of Chinchwad. An offence of murder has been registered at the Bhosari police station. The police suspect that Vipul’s murder was fall out of his property dispute with step brothers.

The police have arrested his step brother Sumit Ghume (29) and his aide Mahesh Digambar Kadam (29),both residents of Dapodi. The police said that deceased Vipul has a criminal background as he was earlier arrested for attempting to murder his step brother Yogesh Ghume. He was currently out on bail.

The police said that Vipul was having a dispute over property with his step brothers. Around 12.30 pm,he was driving an autorickshaw from Kasarwadi to Nigdi,when four persons allegedly intercepted him and the attacked him brutally with sharp weapons.

The assailants allegedly tried to chop his hands. They left Vipul in a pool of blood and fled from the spot. Local residents then informed the police who admitted Vipul to YCM hospital. He however succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Meanwhile,the incident created a panic in Kasarwadi area as the murder took place in a crowded spot in the afternoon hours.

Senior police inspector Suresh Kekane of Bhosari police station said a Vipul was murdered following a property dispute. A few days back Vipul had a quarrel with his step brothers over a property.
