President Pratibha Patil,has conferred the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) on Air Vice Marshal Ajit S Bhonsle,Deputy Commandent and Chief Instructor of National Defence Academy.
At a ceremonial function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan,New Delhi,President Patil,recently conferred the AVSM on Air Vice Marshal Ajit S Bhonsle. This award was given to the officer in recognition of the Air Marshals distinguished service of an exceptional order,said a press note.Bhonsale is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned as a Navigator in the Indian Air Force in Jun 1978. He is also an alumuus of the prestigious Defence Services Staff College,Wellington,College of Defence Management and National Institute of Defence Studies,Tokyo.
The Air Vice Marshal is an A-1 qalified navigation instructor and has 5300 hours of flying experience. The Air Officer has held staff appointments such as Chief Adminstrative Officer of Air Force Station Pune,Deputy Director of Air Staff Inspection,Principal Director of Intelligence and Senior Officer in Charge Administration of HQ Southern Air Command,the note said..
He has also commanded the Navigation Training School,Begumpet and Air Force Station,New Delhi.
