Art Scholarship
Seul Ki,a South Korean student at the MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul,Raj Baug,Loni,recently won a scholarship for an International Summer School in London (July 2012) for her series of art works. In her twelfth grade,Seul’s works of art were sent through an education consultant agency based in Mumbai. Seul has been studying in our school for the past three years. She is extremely passionate about her paintings but never compromised on her studies, says Venugopal,principal of the secondary section of MIT Vishwashanti Gurukul. I am excited to spend my summer there. However,I have always preferred studying in India to any other country because of its quality of education, Ki says. Her art teacher,Nanda,is all praise about her student. Seul is very cooperative and a great team player. Her work with the brush is extraordinary, she says.
Receiving Top Honours
Standard XI students of Loyala High School received top honours at the Inter-services / Industry Training,Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) held at Orlando,Florida,USA. With participants from over 57 countries,world-class presentations and exhibits make up this annual conference. The project and paper of the Loyola students was titled ‘Simulation of traffic signal prioritising for emergency services using Predictive Control and Distributed Intelligence’. The paper was judged as the best. The school was represented by Chinmay Chobhe,Kanak Kulkarni and Mandharr Dareykar. The idea behind selection of the topic came from the large number of accidents taking place in the city.
Concert For A Cause
The annual day functions of City International School,Kothrud,will be held on December 10 and 17 at Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium. The theme of the concert is ‘Save the World’,wherein the students will spread awareness about global warming,pollution and other environmental concerns through their performances. On December 10,the students from pre-primary section to Std 1 will showcase their talent on stage while on December 17,the students of Std II – IX will perform various dances,dramas and songs. The theme is the same for both the days but the level of performance will differ according to the participating class of students, says Nirmal Waddan,principal.
