Dr Poonawallah presented award for excellence
The Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) and the Pan American Health and Education Foundation (PAHEF) have presented and Award for Excellence in Inter-American Public Health on Dr Cyrus S Poonawalla,chairman and managing director of Serum Institute of India Ltd,making him the first Indian to get the prestigious honour in Washington DC. Dr Poonawalla received the award from Dr Mirta Roses Periago,director of the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO). The award was in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to eliminate Rubella and Congenital Rubella Syndrome in America.
Ex-Assam CM Mahanta to visit city on Oct 2
FORMER Assam chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta is visiting Pune on October 2 and will interact with students and youths representing different organisations in order to apprise them of the issue of insurgnecy in Assam. The interaction has been organised by Sarhad,a social organisation,in a bid to build the bridge between North East and Pune. He will be accompanied by wife Dr Jai Shree Mahanta,former Member of Parliament.
Founder president of Sarhad,Sanjay Nahar,said the interaction had been organised in order to help build the bridge between the North East and rest of country.
US delegation visits military engg college
Pune an eight-member US delegation,led by Lt Col Thomas Moses Johnson III,visited College of Military Engineering (CME) September 27. The delegation was briefed at CME,taken around the campus on a tour and were shown training and administrative infrastructure of the college. Lt Col Johnson said,It was a learning experience. The institution imparts highly professional and realistic training.
