Air Marshal (Retd) Edul Jahangir Dhatigara passes away
Air Marshal (Retd) Edul Jahangir Dhatigara,PVSM,KC passed away at his Koregaon Park residence on Monday. The last rites were performed on Monday with full military honours. AOC,2 Wing,laid a wreath on behalf of Chief of Air Staff. Wreaths were also placed on behalf of AOC-in-C SWAC and AOC,2 Wing Air Force Pune. Dhatigara was commissioned into the Royal Indian Air Force on June 14,1942. He was awarded the Kirti Chakra for exhibiting courage and flying skill in 1956. He was awarded the Param Vishist Seva Medal in 1974. He was Vice Chief of Air Staff prior to his appointment as Air Officer Commanding in Chief,Western Air Command in 1976. He retired in 1978. Madras Sappers Day celebrated at CME
The Madras Sappers in and around the city got together at College of Military Engineering (CME ) to celebrate the Madras Sappers Officers Association day on September 30. More than 200 serving and retired officers and their families attended the function which ended with the young and the old singing the traditional Surangani song.
