YMCA competition
The Young Mens Christian Association (YMCA) Pune,is organising its 13th interschool competition in elocution,patriotic song and folk dance as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
The topic for elocution,which will be held on August 11,is rain water harvesting. The patriotic song (group) competition and the group folk dance competition will take place on August 12 and 13 respectively.
Winners will be awarded cash prizes,trophies and certificates at the prize distribution ceremony on August 13, said general secretary,YMCA,Deepak Londhe. The competitions will be organised at YMCA,Poona,382,New Rasta Peth,Quartergate.
Pune Pandit Award
The Art & Music Foundation (A&M),a city-based NGO will give annual Pune Pandit Award to renowned violinist,N Rajam for her contribution to Indian classical music.
The award,which will carry a memento,cheque and shawl,will be conferred upon the maestro in a ceremony which will be held in the city next month. Pune Pandit Award is an initiative of the Centre for Excellence of A&M.
Rajam,who has also been awarded the Padmashushan and Sangit Natak Academy Award,among several other awards,will perform at the event.
