Ajit Pawar: I have not insulted Sharad Pawar

A day after he silenced Sharad Pawar by pointing out the rules, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar denied that he had ”insulted” the NCP (SP) chief at the District Planning and Development Committee meeting held at divisional commisisonerate.

“Sharad Pawar is like a deity for me. I can never insult him. Some people are trying to set the narrative that he has been insulted,” Ajit Pawar said at a party rally in Pimpri-Chinchwad today.

At the DPDC meeting, where he presided over as District Guardian Minister, Ajit Pawar told his uncle Sharad Pawar that he had no right to raise questions. Thereafter, the senior Pawar kept mum over the next two hours even as those at the meeting witnessed an exchange of fire between leaders of the two NCP factions.

Ajit Pawar questioning Sharad Pawar’s authority to speak at DPDC angered daughter and Baramati MP Supriya Sule. Moments after the meeting, Sule told The Indian Express, ”Really so much to learn from today’s DPDC meeting.

Sharad Pawar came to the meeting five minutes before Ajit Pawar arrived. And when he arrived in the meeting, Sharad Pawar got up from his chair as per the protocol. This was an example of real old world politics which Maharashtra was famous for.”
