Ahir to start air pollution monitoring system

With both Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad seeing a rise in pollution levels and Pune also figuring among the most polluted cities in the country,state Environment Minister and Pune Guardian Minister Sachin Ahir has proposed to set up air and water pollution monitoring system.

Addressing a meet on environment in the city,he proposed to set up air pollution measurement display boards at key areas in both the corporation for spreading awareness among people.

“The levels of air and water pollution are going up. The display boards will be an eye-opener for people living in the city,’’ he said.

Terming river pollution as another area of concern,he said he was also contemplating gardens near river banks. It was his first visit to the city after becoming the Guardian Minister. He held several meetings in two days time to address various issues concerning different departments.
