The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) will host Surgery Conference 2010 on August 7-8. It will be inaugurated by Lt Gen Pradeep Bhargava,Director General,Hospital Services (Armed Forces) and Officiating Director General,Armed Forces Medical Services. Lt Gen D P Vats,Director and Commandant,AFMC,will deliver the welcome address. ACD on surgical symposia will be released on this occasion by Lt Gen Yogendra Singh,formerly DGAFMS.
A souvenir with articles on controversies in various surgical fields,written by the faculty of the Department of Surgery,AFMC,will also be released by Air Marshal D Ganguly,DGMS (Air Force).
According to Col S Rajagopalan,professor and head,Department of Surgery,the central theme of conference is Controversies in Surgery.
The keynote address will be delivered by Prof Chintamani,GB Pant Hospital,New Delhi,on Controversies in Surgical Training and Evaluation. The organizers also plan to hold a practical demonstration-cum-workshop with hands on training on vascular anastomosis,a vital and often neglected area of operative surgery,for resident doctors. This will allow delegates an opportunity to hone their skills outside the operation theatre,in the Surgical Skills Lab,AFMC,Pune.
