Why does producer Aamir Khan want children to stay away from his next,Delhi Belly?

Aamir Khan is a nuanced actor and a wise strategist. Even though the teasers of Delhi Belly were greeted with laughter at the promo launch in Mumbai on Thursday,as the film’s producer,Aamir had already applied to the Censor Board for an Adults certificate. As expected,it was granted.

Aamir knew what he was doing. “The film is not for kids. It is for the youngsters and those who are young at heart,” he said. His statement made sense when the film’s first promo — replete with cuss words — was unveiled. Delhi Belly is a crime comedy that revolves around three friends living in a bachelor pad in Delhi.

This film has been in the making for a long time. And the ‘obsessed-with-detail’ producer owned up for the delay. “It is my fault,” he said. “I can work only on one film at a time. In Aamir Khan Productions, the final cut stays with the producer. So,I make sure that I sit on the edit of the film and also work on its promotions,” he explained. Director Abhinay Deo did not seem to mind. “If it works in the film’s favour, then I can only be happy,” said Abhinay.

Delhi Belly was suppose to be Abhinay’s first film (he debuted with Game),but rumours of rifts between Khan and Abhinay over the film’s shooting delayed the release. “All that is untrue. I didn’t even attend one day of the shoot. When I saw the film,I realised that Abhinay had done justice to the film,” said Aamir.

Delhi Belly could well be a turning point for his nephew Imran Khan, who plays the lead character with grey shades.
