The confusion prevailing over admission of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) students has been cleared. Students who did not appear for the board exams and had taken the school exams instead as part of the optional board exam provisions introduced by CBSE this year will have to appear for a mid-term exam. They will be given provisional admission until those results are declared.
Sunil Magar, deputy director, education, said,The mid-term exams are expected to be conducted in July or August. So if a student does not clear that, his admission will stand cancelled, despite getting a provisional admission now on the basis of results of the school examination.
On the issue of a delay in issuance of marksheets by the CBSE board,Magar said,We will accept a marksheet validated by the school principal. The original marksheet can be submitted later when the Board issues it. We will take care that the students do not face any problem with admissions for not getting their original marksheets.
Best-five DEcoded
As for the best-five system, students can choose from groups I and II if they want to opt for it. While group I consists of four subjects mandatory for the examination, group II comprises two subjects. ICSE students can choose any five subjects of these six subjects.
For SSC students, the percentage printed on the marksheet is on the basis of the best five subjects.
