The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad observed a bandh in protest against the increasing commercialisation of education on Wednesday.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP ) observed a bandh in protest against the increasing commercialisation of education on Wednesday. The ABVP claimed that the ‘college bandh’ was a success as around 60 colleges in the city remained shut on the day.

Acccording to a press note issued by ABVP,it had carried out a Sangharsha Yatra last week in various colleges in Pune district and had appealed to the students to participate in the bandh. “Many students from various colleges participated in the bandh.”

The fee hike in colleges has put a lot of burden on students. Some colleges even charge heavily for entrance exams. The ABVP will hold demonstrations to protest any fee hike in future too,” said city president,ABVP,Nikhil Kale.

The ABVP has also planned a students’ rally at Mantralaya in Mumbai on September 7 on the same issue.
