The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP),a students union whose petition in the Bombay High Court proved instrumental in resolving the teachers boycott,has criticised both the state government and MFUCTO for stretching differences between them for more than three months despite interest of thousands of students in Maharashtra being at stake.
The whole educational system revolves around students,and it was agonizing to see that both government and teachers organisation stuck to their stand for more than three months. Even last year,Maharashtra had witnessed agitation over the same issue. Some solution was reached when the judiciary interfered, Yadunath Deshpande,ABVPs secretary (Mumbai) said.
The ABVP and a student from the University of Mumbai named Darshana Pawar had filed a petition on May 9,2012 in the Bombay High Court.
The Court had then issued notices to the respondents and sought affidavits by May 17,2012. The case came up before the vacation court on four occasions between May 18 and June 1,2012 and was since then pending as the MFUCTO had called off its boycott on May 22,2012. Prashant Beedkar,a law student,said it was pathetic to see judiciary admonishing both government and teachers organisation,while both of them should work hand in hand when it comes to protecting students interest.
