It was a packed house at Tilak Smarak Mandir on Saturday,June 18,as people gathered to watch ‘Arangetram’,the Bharatnatyam dance performance put up by the Nrityaprerna Gurukul headed by Suchitra Date. The dance was presented by Manasi Chirme, currently studying in the 12th grade at Fergusson College, and 10th graders Niharika from Muktangan English School and Sayali Gujarathi from SPM School. The colourful performances packed within them immense grace and poise, whether it was in their individual stage presence or their collective synchronisation. The vocals provided by Meenakshi Subramaniam and Hrishikesh Badwe were a fitting complement to the skill showcased by the three girls on stage. Along with their dance training and their academic pursuits, all three girls also volunteer at Swadhar,an NGO founded by Date in the city, which works for destitute women and children.
