As a part of the celebrations for Guru Purnima,the Nandkishore Cultural Society presented a cultural programme Kathak Nrutyarang at the Mahatma Phule Museum on July 6. The programme initially began with a tribute to their guru,nandkishore Kapote,by his students following which Kapote himself performed pieces on the Vishnu Vandana,Uthan,Tode Chandh and Jugalbandhi. Later on his students also gave individual and group performances during the programme.
Amte on celluloid
Baba Amte’s life and work will be celebrated in a new movie to be made by Samrouddhi Porey. The movie will portray 40 years of tireless service by the Padmashree awardee to the adivasis at Hemalkasa,a hot-bed for Naxalites. The movie will also explore his wifes sacrifice,his sensitivity towards wild animals and his constant endeavor to save the ecosystem. Mahesh Limaye will construct the screenplay of the movie and the movie itself will be shot at the village of Hemalkasa in Gadchiroli district. The films script has been compiled after various meetings with Dr. Amte and his family and is also based on various books like ‘Prakashwata’ and ‘Hemalkasa’. Porey will be producing as well as directing the film under the banner of Samrouddhi Cine World.
Cultural overtones
Celebrating the work of their students,the Abhinaya Darpan Dance Academy will be showcasing the arangetram of their two students. Neelima Borade and Murrel Saldhana will be performing the arangetram on July 8 at the Tilak Smarak Mandir. Both the girls have trained under Usha Rahul. The event will be precided over by musician PK Subramaniam from Mumbai.
