Two years after about 150 workers,including 21 blind workers,of Chinchwad-based Uma Precision began agitation against their suspension and dismissal,they temporarily called off the protest on Monday after the management announced reinstatement of 51 workers and promised that the remaining workers too would be reinstated soon.
The workers have temporarily withdrawn their agitation following the reinstatement of 51 employees,including seven women, said Dilip Tilekar,companys director for human resources. Advocate Vaishali Sarin,counsel for the workers said that this is only the first stage and the company has agreed to reinstate the remaining 100 odd workers,step-by-step.
Sarin said that in the second stage,the 21 blind workers will be incorporated and the issue of eight dismissed and 28 suspended workers will be discussed. A decision on the pending inquiry against 28 other workers will also be taken. The decision was taken on Monday,on the birthday of company director Umesh Chandgude,in the presence of executive director Chary Shrotri,deputy commissioner of police Mahesh Patil and others.
The blind workers had undertaken a hunger strike last month followed by an agitation by the family members of the workers last week.
