The crime branch of Pune police on Sunday night arrested five persons on charges of robbery and assembling for robbery at Ladkat petrol pump near Narpatgiri chowk. A pistol,two live cartridges,a sharp sickle and two knives were recovered from them. All five hail from various places across Maharashtra.
Police have arrested Vinod Halde (24),from Mulshi,Mohan Virkar (32),from Wagholi,,Avinash Bandal (25),from Khandala,Ajmal Usman Khan (50,from Pusad,Yawatmal,and Gorakshanath Bhujbal 33,from Kolhapur. Further investigations revealed that the tavera car they were travelling in was a stolen one and its number plate was also changed.
YD Phulawade,an assistant police inspector with the anti robbery squad of crime branch said, Our investigations have revealed that the group had even stolen a truck from Pune and had taken it to Alandi. We have also recovered the truck from Alandi and have brought it back.”
The accused were produced in court and have been remanded to police custody till July 19.
